Target releases their own curated beauty boxes from time to time for a very affordable price ($5~$10). I have placed an order for their "natural box" and wanted to share my thoughts on it.
Box: celebratory red target logos with holiday themed golden snowflakes. The box is durable but does not feel as sturdy as Birchbox. |
Products: I appreciate the fact that everything is sealed except for the shampoo. All products are deluxe, if not travel, size (at least 1 oz)
Soapbox argan shampoo (1fl oz): pleasant scent, but made my hair dry. The ingredient list did not seem as natural as it looked. I got 4-5 uses out of this bottle.
|
Borghese Age-Defying Cellulare Complex Exfoliate Facial Scrub (1fl oz): whether it's physical or chemical, I'm always excited to try a new exfoliant. Although the micro-bids were more abrasive than that of Acure's, it also suds a lot more so it did not necessarily feel harsh on my skin. My face was slightly pink and it left a very thin film over the skin. Probably not gonna purchase the full size.
|
Skinfix Hand Repair Cream (1fl oz): allatonin which I've not heard of, is the first ingredient listed, so I looked it up. According to skinstore.com "Allantoin is a compound found in the urine of most mammals with the exception of human and primates." WTF? Nevertheless, the first five ingredients are definitely natural. It did moisturize my dry hands well, but I can't emphasize how long it took to sink into my skin (thus felt really heavy). It also left sticky finish/residue which I did not appreciate.
|
Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie (3.2oz): it has a pleasant fruity scent as the title "smoothie" suggests. I use this on my damp hair, and I really like the way it softens, hold up the curls and add volume to my hair!
|
Acure Brightening Facial Scrub (1fl oz): this is the main reason that I instantly decided to get the box for I have always wanted to try this. This felt a lot like Kate Somervilles Exfolikate in terms of the texture, minus the burning sensation. My face wasn't red at all after using this product!
Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Toweletts with White Tea Extract (10 cts): Because I'm already so content with my bioderma, I won't be using this as makeup remover. Actually I won't recommend this to ANYONE as makeup wipes because it burned my face. My face was red, and it did not feel nice. It's packed with strong chemicals and overpowering fragrances! Nevertheless, makeup toweletts always come handy whenever I go swatch something in stores.

Now that I really enjoyed Shea Moisture and Acure, I'm glad target had included a coupon ($3 off for $15 or more) in the box. I was fairly satisfied with everything and it was overall such a great box.
